Meet Yawn
Resident tea & coffee expert Joe has been obsessed with making brews better for over 15 years.
It all started back in 2011 when, at just 18 years old, Joe opened a small gift shop in Bakewell, Derbyshire. Alongside running the shop, he spent as much time as he could learning everything he could about tea and coffee. Tasting sessions, barista and tea sommelier courses, and getting hands-on experience across the industry. Most importantly though, he drank a lot of tea and coffee along the way!
The more he learnt, the more he realised just how much difference great ingredients, careful sourcing and expert roasting can make to what's in your cup. Before long, he was creating his own range of teas and coffees, focusing on sourcing quality origins and working with expert roasters to bring out the very best flavour in every cup.
In 2017, Joe sold the gift shop to focus on Yawn full-time. Hannah joined the business in 2019 and, together with the rest of the Yawn team, they've grown the business from packing orders at home to sending thousands of tea, coffee and hot chocolate gifts to customers all over the world.
Today, Joe still spends a huge amount of time working with trusted coffee roasters and suppliers, tasting new coffees, sourcing exciting teas and developing new products. Whether it's choosing the coffees for an advent calendar or creating a new blend, everything starts with one question:
"Would we be excited to drink it ourselves?"
That's the approach we've stuck to from day one, and it's one we don't plan on changing anytime soon.
Our Tea
We want people to bin boring dusty teabags. The tea bag brew has become second nature, along the way flavour and quality has faded away in the dust. Our tea is proper quality loose leaf tea, full of flavour and variety, worlds away from any teabag brew. Our tea selection ranges from the rare and exclusive single origins to fun festive blends.
Our Coffee
Yawn Coffee was born with the aim to create an amazing variety of high quality speciality coffees that can be enjoyed at home. We responsibly source specially selected beans which originate from Guatemala, Kenya, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Brazil, Tanzania, Honduras, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Sumatra, Mexico, Vietnam, India, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Uganda, Bolivia. We have partnered with local experts and lovingly roasted the far travelled beans just 10 minutes from YAWN HQ. Our coffee is fresh, which is why orders for coffee have a lead time of a few days.
Our Advent Calendars
Yawn Brew was the first in creating the windowed coffee advent calendar, earning widespread recognition and thousands of reviews! Each year, we carefully select 24 coffees to cater to all coffee lovers, regardless of their brewing preferences. Additionally, we offer tea advent calendars, premium hot chocolate advents, and a mixed advent calendar that includes tea, coffee, and hot chocolate!
